NiteDoc, the dedicated after-hours medical practice, opens in Parktown North

After an early morning gym session, a long day at the office, then coming home to make dinner and school lunches and helping with homework (plus sending off those final emails), you finally settle in on the couch with a book or your favourite programme. It’s the half an hour me time that you desperately crave. Not even 10 minutes later, a bleary eyed little person comes over and whispers “I’m not feeling well.” Sound familiar?

Instead of adding to your countless visits to after-hours casualty for high fevers, tonsillitis, ear infections or gastro (the list really is endless) and waiting for hours on end with nothing but an exorbitant bill to show for it at the end of it all, there’s a new solution. NiteDoc is a reliable and affordable after-hours healthcare practice − which has been highly successful on the West Rand of over 20 years − and has just opened a new practice in Parktown North as of 1 April 2016.
NiteDoc functions exclusively as an after-hours and weekend medical practice, which also makes it a must for people who work long hours and struggle to get to the doctor during work hours or who are sick on weekends. At NiteDoc, there are no appointments (only walk-ins) but not the prolonged waiting times usually associated with a trip to the emergency room. This is because NiteDoc’s target group of patients are those requiring GP type assessment and care, and not more serious life threatening problems, although if necessary they can provide immediate stabilization and referral.
Interestingly, a large percentage of people who visit casualties could have been seen by a GP and don’t actually require casualty. The team at NiteDoc firmly believes that the role of the family GP should remain as the primary healthcare expert; NiteDoc simply fills the after-hours gap.
NiteDoc is able to dispense the first few doses of antibiotic should it be needed and other required medication until you can get to a pharmacy for the rest of the script to be filled. Aside from offering primary health care, you can also get blood tests, flu vaccinations, plus referrals for x-rays, ultrasounds and more.
